Introduction

This department studies the American and British English language varieties and related literature which continues to wield its tremendous influence over our global society. The department further aims to promote students' ability to conduct independent research activities in English Linguistics and English Literature. Moreover, it encourages students to play a pivotal role in ushering in a new era, while concurrently contributing to the region's academic growth. The department consists of two major fields; English Linguistics and English Literature.

Educational Objective

The department aims to teach the skills required to be a leader and also encourages additional study in English Linguistics and Literature, in its endeavors to cultivate tomorrow's leaders that will be capable of contributing to the national and regional development in various related fields. In response to the demands of a global society, it is the department's additional goal to train professionals who would be the vanguard of international academic conference and cultural exchanges.

Educational Goals

    To accomplish our educational goals, the department encourages students to appreciate the values of leaders, promotes their creative and independent research skills based on what they have learned in the field, and further invites them to participate in and contribute to the national and regional development.
  1. To encourage students to obtain high scores in TOEFL.
  2. To encourage M.A. students to have research papers published at least once a year in a regional or national academic seminar.
  3. To encourage Ph.D students to have two or more research papers published in a national-level conference or two or more in a regional or national conference.
  4. To encourage students to participate in international or regional exchange programs.
