Introduction

The Department of Fine Arts is divided into 5 different plastic-art majors: Korean Painting, Western Painting, Sculpture, Visual Communication Design, and Ceramic Design. These studies would enable students to obtain the necessary expressive ability and critical vision, especially required for contemporary, plastic artists. With the department's goal being to train professional artists, it offers further in-depth education with its balanced curriculum between theory and practice.

Educational Objective

The department aims to train professional artists who understand the needs of the changing society, create a new artistic path for the future, as well as those able to contribute to the growth in human art and culture. Artists should be able to cope with the social demands on art itself, contributing to the development of the nation's culture and economy. Understanding clearly on Yeongdong area's regional characteristics and current conditions, the department tries to revitalize the region's art in culture and to train our open-minded and future-oriented artists to be able to deal with the demands of the changing society. In order to achieve these goals, the department offers a balanced and specialized education between theory and practice, with our educational policy of having each class run by a select few students. The department tries to promote students' artistic activities, expand their objective and critical view on their works and encourage them to participate in seminars and design contests as part of our vigorous efforts to contribute to the growth in the region's art and culture.

Educational Goals

  1. To encourage students to participate in academic seminars and give at least 1 presentation a year.
  2. To encourage students to exhibit at least 1 work of art a year at a national level contest.
  3. To encourage students to contribute to the region's cultural development through participating in various art & cultural events
