Introduction

The department aims to acquaint students with the development of Korean language and the developmental process of its characters, as well as to contribute to the growth of Korean Language and Literature through in-depth researches. Moreover, it aims to offer education in its 3 categories: Korean Language, Korean Literature, and Korean Education, which will assist in the rediscovery and recreation of the nation's traditional culture. In addition, the doctoral program includes education on theory and practical research in Korean Education. The department aims to cultivate intellectuals who are able to represent and express Korean sentiment in a reasonable and effective way. These students are to become the creative intellectuals, destined to enrich Korean language with their in-depth knowledge of the theory of Korean language and literature. They will also become the cultural volunteers, willing to preserve and develop cultural heritage through the identification of Korea's traditional culture.

Educational Goals

  1. Students should be able to write correctly with proper word spacing based on Korean orthography, while feeling confident in exercising their independent judgments with a sound understanding of the language itself.
  2. Students should be able to identify errors in both Korean grammar and orthography.
  3. Students should have at least Level 3 in the Chinese Characters Proficiency Test.
  4. Students should read at least 1 major-related English textbook.
  5. Students should be able to interpret the phenomena and reality of their literary life, in its relation to this area of study.

  7. Students should be able to understand and briefly describe the characteristics of human anthropology in relation to their majors.
  8. As a student of Korean Language and Literature, he/she should be able to understand various approaches in order to contribute to the growth and further development in local, national and human anthropology.

Educational Objective

The department aims to train professionals who are acquainted with its profound theory and vast information and are able to promote their intensive research skills. Based on the knowledge acquired in the course, students should feel proud of being in the vanguard of safeguarding and developing cultural heritage rediscovered.
