Department of Medical Science (6 years)
Introduction
Established in 1994 with 40 students studying a Nursing Science major, Catholic Kwandong University has been providing quality health services for the local community suffering from lack of medical assistance. In 1995, the department was able to recruit 50 premedical science students and see the inauguration of Dr. Park, Sun Il as Vice Provost of the department. In 1997, with a newly established Medical Science major, the students in the Premedical course could advance to Medical Science, making it possible to formally establish 3 majors in the department; Premedical Science, Medical Science, and Nursing Science. In August 1997, this advancement further led to the completion of the construction project of the Medical Science building for the 3 majors, allowing the College of Medicine to be true to its name. Under the spirit of Catholicism, the department seeks to train professional nurses and doctors who understand and uphold the human dignity and rights to life. These professionals should possess outstanding ethics and values of human nature, while also serving the community as professional medical practitioners.
