Department of Dementia Prevention & Rehabilitation
Introduction
Human Service College, established in 2017 thanks to the financial support project for the Ministry of Education, including the Department of Dementia Prevention & Rehabilitation in 2019.
The Department of Dementia Prevention & Rehabilitation is intended for adult learners who are 30 years of age or older and enrollees who are employed (those who have 3 or more years of employment after graduation of high schools such as specialized high schools, Meister schools, special-purpose high schools, vocational high schools, and technical high schools).
Catholic Kwandong University was selected as the only university in Gangwon-do to have rehabilitation-related majors.
Specialized dementia care is comprised of personal and companion care provided by intensively trained and tested caregivers. In this way there is great value in various professional backgrounds . Students are educated by teams of professionals such as medical personnel specialized in psychological health promotion, neurology, and nursing, social workers, clinical psychotherapists, occupational therapists, lifelong educators and physical education instructors.
Educational Objective
The Department of Dementia Prevention and Rehabilitation aims to foster experts with knowledge and skills to prevent and treat dementia at a time when the social interest in Alzheimer's diseases is increasing and state responsibility is being imposed.
In an aged society, the Department of Dementia Prevention and Rehabilitation provides dementia prevention, early detection of dementia, knowledge of academic practice for social integration of dementia families and patients. It also aims to establish the academic value necessary to live a decent life, especially through rehabilitation of senior citizens, the disabled, and social misfits.
